Hi everyone! It’s about time we share with you the paint colors we used in our whole house. We’re breaking down each paint color, so that you can see what works for our living areas, and maybe it will work for you too!
Our color choices can be described as tranquil, coastal-inspired neutrals. Living in Massachusetts, the ocean is only a short drive away, and we love to spend time on the beach. You’ll see coastal influences in our style as you click through our posts. For our house’s paint colors, we wanted our house to feel calm, clean, but also colorful. Want to see what we chose? Let’s show you the color palette of our house!
Behr Maui Mist
Maui Mist, what can I say about this color except that it’s the perfect blue-tinged white! Originally, we picked out this color for the walls in our bathroom, and we loved how it brought a calm, oceanic feel to the room without making it feel too small. We really like its light blue hues, and since this is essentially white, it adds a lot of brightness.
Because we appreciated Maui Mist so much in our bathroom, we used it again in our third bedroom/office! This room is the smallest of the three bedrooms in our house, so again, we wanted it to feel bright and airy. We chose a blue rug for this room to really bring out the blue undertones in the paint color too (pictures of this room coming soon).
Behr Ultra Pure White
Ultra Pure White is the color of all the trim, doors, and windows in our house’s interior. It’s such a crisp, clean and like the name says, pure white. It doesn’t have any yellow or beige undertones, and makes our 1970s house feel modern and refreshed! We’ve bought many, many gallons of Ultra Pure White over the years (all of the woodwork in our house was dark brown when we moved in), and we love it!
Benjamin Moore Chantilly Lace
Another true white, Chantilly Lace has made appearances in several spots of our home. We first worked with it in the dining area on the wood accent wall (which was formerly a dark brown, knotty pine). Then, we used it in our entryway to make it feel bright and open right when you walk in! And finally, we painted our second bedroom Chantilly Lace. Honestly, we debated for a while about painting the second bedroom another pastel color vs. white. We were afraid that if we chose too many different pastel colors, that our house would look “Easter Eggy.” So, we chose the safe route and picked white! The beauty of a white room is that the decor options are ENDLESS, and white will never go out of style!
Benjamin Moore Collingwood
Collingwood can be described as a “greige” color, or grey with beige undertones. This is the color of our master bedroom, and it creates a serene, moody space that’s perfect for sleeping and relaxing. Pete prefers color vs. grey, so we agreed that this will be the only grey room in our house.
Benjamin Moore Winter Wheat
Here we have Winter Wheat, which is a warm, neutral shade of yellow. We chose this color for our sunroom to make it feel warm, earthy, and happy (like the sun)! We carried this same color into the kitchen/dining area too, since it’s attached to the sunroom. This color will make any space instantly feel cheery!
Glidden Barely Jade
Saving the best for last, our living room and hallway are painted Barely Jade. This color is our absolute FAVORITE and sets the tone for our entire house. It’s the first paint color that you see when you walk up the stairs into our home (we live in a split level), and resonates closely with our neutral, coastal-inspired style. Barely Jade is interesting because it’s a light blue-grey, but in certain lighting it can look 100% light blue, grey, or even green. It reminds us of the ever-changing colors of the ocean, and feels so tranquil.
Selecting paint colors for your home can be a time-consuming process (there are so many beautiful color options to choose from!), but don’t let it intimidate you. Try to pick colors that 1) you like, and 2) compliment each other, and know that it’s okay to use the same color in more than one room. It’s also okay to paint your room white if you’re unsure of what color to pick. After all, paint is easy to change as styles and trends evolve. We hope you like the paint colors that we chose for our house! Happy painting.
